Format of lodgement
This page is not comprehensive. Please use the menu on the left to see other information regarding requirements for gazettal.
File type and metadata
Notices must be in PDF format, including images and maps. The maximum file size allowed for upload is 10MB.
Files for upload will need to all be selected at the same time. We recommend moving all relevant files to the same folder on your drive before uploading.
We recommend removing all metadata from your file before uploading it for publication. This means deleting all bookmarks, comments/notes and any information in the properties, such as author details. Not doing so may result in this information being retained in the compiled Gazette PDF.
PDF file name
It is crucial your PDF file name does not contain endashes (–) or emdashes (—) as our system cannot process these symbols. Please remove them before submitting.
The file extension should be ".pdf". Our system does not recognise files that end in ".PDF". If your file does end in the latter, we suggest opening it in Adobe Acrobat and saving out a new copy. This copy should now end in ".pdf" and be suitable for submission.
PDF must have optical character recognition (OCR)
All instruments published on the website must have optical character recognition, meaning the content can be searched using an electronic search function.
PDFs saved out from Microsoft Word should automatically be OCR’d. Alternatively, opening a PDF in Adobe Acrobat and using the Edit PDF tool should convert the text of your instrument into being electronically searchable. You can test this by then doing a Ctrl+F search for a random word.
Blank pages
Please check your notice PDF for blank pages and delete them if they do not contain any content. The Gazette team are unable to delete blank pages for you.
Gazette footer
As part of the compilation process, each page of each notice will receive a footer containing a unique reference number and the date of publication. Please allow for approximately 10mm of blank space at the bottom of each page of your notice for this footer. If your notice contains pages with a dark background, this footer may be illegible on those pages as we are unable to adjust the colour of the text.
No cost for publication
There is currently no cost for publication in the Gazette.
